HOMEMADE FACE MASK THAT IMPROVES YOUR SKIN OVERNIGHT

My friend rarely has a bad skin day, so I asked her what her secret was. She showed me a simple recipe to what I thought was some sort of sauce, until she began to put it on her face! I tried the mask, and the next day my skin was so soft and hydrated. It worked better than any shop bought mask- even the pricey ones!
I'll share the ingredients and the application process, and it of course goes without saying that if you are allergic to any of the elements used, don't try this!! Unless you can replace it with a similar ingredient that excludes those you can't use.
As I said, this mixture almost ressembles some sort of sauce or weird dessert, because the three ingredients can be found in most of our homes. You will be needing:
Greek yoghurt (plain, without flavouring such as strawberry etc)
Honey
Turmeric
A bowl or container to mix it all in, using a spoon/spatula or whatever you have lying around.
It's also a good idea to wear old clothes or something you don't mind getting messy, because turmeric stains bright yellow!

Why these ingredients:
Turmeric contains curcumin, which is an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant! It has many health benefits, such as lowering the chances of heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's, and helping treat the symptoms of arthitis. It's a power ingredient!
Honey is full of beneficial components that boost cell regeneration and healing process, and it's especially great if you have acne, eczema or psoriasis. It reduces inflammation.
Greek yoghurt is actually an exfoliant, and an anti-age product. This is why it leaves your skin lighter and brighter.
I'll just jump right into the mixture process!
Start off by adding the yoghurt into the bowl. I usually use the whole little cup of around 210g, because I like using the mask three times a week. I don't have exact measures for only one mask, but I'd assume around 1/4 of a yoghurt cup.
Add the honey. I use around one 1.5 to 2 tablespoons, but again, I make a bigger batch. If you're making one portion, maybe half a tablespoon will do. Make sure it's all mixed in well.
You can now pour in the ground turmeric, around the same amount of honey. The mixture needs to become bright yellow. If it's only pastel yellow, add more! It should look like the picture below, maybe even more fluorescent. Turmeric is great for your skin so don't be afraid to overdo it.
Finally, with the back of the spoon (it doesn't have to be the spoon, you can use whatever you want, even your hands!), start smoothly applying it to your face. Don't worry, the turmeric won't stain your skin, only clothes! Try to avoid sensitive areas like the skin around your eyes and any other parts where you notice your skin being a bit more sensitive.

The same as other face masks, you should leave it on for around 10-25 minutes. This allows the mask to penetrate your skin and start working it's magic. If you leave face masks (in general, not just this one) on for too long, you risk actually drying out your skin. This is why the packs you buy at the store have the period of time you should leave it on marked clearly, and why it's important not to exceed it.
Once your timer goes off, wash it all off with water. I use my facewash to remove it, and proceed by performing my night time skin care routine before I go to bed. I prefer using skin masks at night before I go to bed, because I find that they actually work better overnight (this might just be me, though!). I suppose because during this time I don't touch my face and also because while we sleep, our skin goes into 'repair mode', as it regenerates and repairs itself, so with the help of this process, the mask might perform better.
The morning after, I wake up with completely different skin. I'm not exaggerating when I say that my cheeks feel like a baby's bottom! So hydrated and rejuvinated.
And that's it for this chapter! I hope you enjoyed reading about this face mask, and if you decide to try it out, please let me know how it goes!! You can do so in the comments of this post of via my private email (find it in the 'contact' section of this page).
Also, if you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see on here, send them in! I'd really appreciate it! :)
Thank you for reading, until next time!
